I've been getting a few questions on what equipment I use to film/edit and whatnot. So, here's the current rundown on what I use:
I have my laptop. It's a Toshiba Satellite with an Intel i7 Processor, I think 4-6 GB of RAM and 500 GB of memory. I chose this one because it had a top of the line Intel processor, and I needed that for Editing, it takes a lot of processing power. Dig it? You should.
I then connect my laptop to my Sony TV via HDMI cable. Now, Not a lot of people do this, but I do. I can put my preview and output monitors onto that one screen. I also put my Audio levels and whatnot on that screen as well, so my laptop monitor is just for cutting footage, adding effects, and stuff like that. Makes it a lot easier, and you can see exactly what you're doing much easier.
Now, on to the software. For editing, I use a mixture of Sony Vegas 9.0 and Adobe Premier Pro. Vegas is great if you're just starting out. It's got a great user interface and very simple for those who just want to cut, add some cute little effects, and diddle around with your sound. Premier Pro is a bit more extensive, and I use that for my more complicated gigs. Generally, if I'm making some sort of film, I use PP because I'll edit it in segments. Each segment has different effects, different sounds, and it needs different attentions. When it's all cut, and the segments are ready, more often than not I'll go back to Vegas, piece the film together and render it there. Although, the render time on Premier Pro is generally quicker. So.. Boom goes the dynamite.
Finally, when I do film, I use my adorable little Kodak Zx1. It's a mini HD camcorder that has the potential to run at 60 FPS. Now, it's still a cheap HD Camcorder, but for what I use it for currently (Vlogs and short Youtube vids) it works perfectly. If you want an example of my Vlogs, head over to our sister company Ax3l Productions. That's where I lose my mind and do whatever I want.
